Sunny here! I love a good wedding story; I love a funny wedding story even better! There’s nothing like looking back on the most important day of your life and having a good chuckle at the officiant forgetting the name of the bride and groom or the flower girl stripping down to the bare necessities during a heat wave.

Who says Felix Mendessohn-Bartholdy’s Wedding March is the only way to rock your wedding recessional? If you’re not the walk-on-roses kind of girl, then get more creative with your recessional! All eyes will be on you anyway, you might as well make a star-worthy exit. These ideas are also a neat way to get your guests involved in your ceremony.
Bubbles!

(Photo Credit: Tom Dermody)Here’s how you do it: after your guests are seated, have your ushers distribute bottles of blowing bubbles to guests seated nearest the aisle. Your ushers or on-resort wedding coordinator will then tell them to blow a wand full of bubbles either before you and your groom passes or directly after you two pass. You may also want to have your guests blowing bubbles once the wedding march is played before you even walk back down the aisle to create the illusion that you’re gliding down the aisle under the sea. Blowing bubbles is an eco-friendly and safer alternative to throwing rice (Plus bubbles are super pretty!)
*Make sure you read the labels on the blowing bubbles before you purchase them to ensure the product does not stain garments in case bubbles may come in contact with your dress.
Palm Tree Leaves

(Photo Credit: prettyusefulstuff.com)If you’re having a beach wedding, then mean it and create an aisle out of palm tree leaves. Instruct your ushers or wedding coordinator to give every guest seated near the aisle a palm tree leaf; it doesn’t have to be anything too big. The idea is to have guests on each side of the aisle place there palm tree leaves down on the aisle before you step on them. It’s sort of an “island princess” departure. If you’re uncomfortable with the idea of each guest lying palms at your feet, then have palm tree leaves made arranged as your aisle cover and sprinkle with tropical flowers. Feel free to use this idea while barefoot. (In fact we recommend it!).

(photo credit: uggsaustralia.com)Of all the shoe designers you expect to drop a bridal line, we would have never expected bridal UGGS® to be the new “in thing”. UGGS® boots joined in on the wedding craze and released their “I DO” collection and we’ve got to say - they do look fluffy. The wedding collection includes three different styles of boots; the “Sparkles I Do” features white and pink iridescent sequins with a power blue sole (with sparkles of course), the “Bailey I Do” features a silvery white boot with a swarvoski crystal button on the outer side of each boot and a powder blue sole and the “Fluff Flip Flop I Do” featuring a white shearling covered fluffy flip-flop sandal with a blue bow. We promise we’re not making this up, an UGGS® Flip Flop!
Although we can’t imagine a bride wearing any of these boots on her actual wedding day, especially in an island climate for a beach wedding, we can definitely see these being worn padding around her room the day of her wedding before getting dressed in a matching terrycloth jumpsuit with the word “bride” emblazed on her back in crystals. Baby blue jumpsuits with comfy iridescent UGGS® would be a cute idea, right?

(photo credit: uggaustralia.comWhat do you think of this cute collection? Would you wear them on your wedding day or just enjoy being a comfortable soon-to-be bride in cottony UGGS® ?

Morning weddings are a beautiful way to start your day. Having a breakfast reception opens up your celebration to unique wedding dishes and drinks. Ten in the morning may be a little early for a cosmopolitan (or not, we won’t judge!) but it’s perfect for one of these refreshing morning drinks.
Try these drink recipes:
Lemon and Cucumber Water

(Photo Credit: zoedawn.com)Water helps get your body going in the morning and offers a number of health benefits. A cool glass of ice water is especially nice on a hot sunny day - like a beach wedding - so why not add some flavor with this Lemon Cucumber water recipe. Glass containers filled with ice and healthy slices of lemon and cucumber also make for very pleasing décor. It’ll be a lovely gesture for your guests to receive a glass of this refreshing beverage right after an outdoor wedding where the temperature may be a little high.
What You’ll Need (serves 20 +)
10 gallons cold water
40-50 slices of lemon
40-50 slices of cucumber
10 glass pitchers (water does not come out as well with plastic containers)
Directions:
Add about 5 slices of lemon and 5 slices of cucumbers to each pitcher. Pour in water until lemon and cucumbers rise to the top of the pitcher.
For a stronger and more pleasant flavor and aroma, let water sit in the fridge for an hour before ready to be served. Basically the longer you leave the cucumbers and lemons in the water, the stronger the flavor.
Add Ice if you plan on leaving your pitchers out during your reception.

Have you ever seen those old school wedding photos where every photo looked as if the Adams family were the photo-shoot coordinators? You know; those photos that were overly scripted and a little stiff thanks to an old fashioned photographer and a bridal party who had no idea how to pose for photos. Never fear; not having any formal modeling training doesn’t mean your photos have to come out looking all stiff and unnatural (seriously, where do I put my hands?)

(photo credit: rooklaneweddings.com)We’ve snapped together a few tips from expert photographers on how to make your wedding photos look as natural and relaxed as we’re sure you’ll feel on your big day.
Smile a Lot, but Not Too Big. Everyone looks better when they smile, you look happy and natural. It’s the type of smile that can be the difference between a lovely photo on your new husband’s desk at work and the snarling photo your relatives make you take out for a good laugh during the holidays. Sometimes the way you think you're smiling and the way you're actually smiling are two different images altogether. We get it - some people aren’t naturally smiley people. If you or your groom is required to just smile at a moment’s notice try a mirror technique to help your practice your smile. In a mirror, relax your mouth and try to smile the smallest smile you can muster, enough to get your eyes involved. Use that as your range of motion for your individual photos of just the bride that aren’t candid shots. This is of course for those brides who are not naturally smiley people (see Mark Zuckerberg’s wedding photo). Your wedding day we’re sure you’ll be so happy the smiles will be overflowing.

(Photo Credit: Priscilla Zuckerberg)Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg finally married his long-time (and we mean long… try nine years) girlfriend Priscilla. The wedding was kept under lock-and-key as the couple tied the knot this past weekend in Mark’s own backyard in an intimate ceremony followed by a low key reception that apparently caught their guests off guard (See: The Wedding). We love the surprise element of the wedding and the family backyard party style of the reception; you’ve got to love a couple who stays true to themselves despite having endless assets at their disposal.

Sound familiar?
I’m a busy woman; I’m planning a wedding, checking guest’s lists, picking china patterns and fighting crime. I don’t have time to fix healthy meals! I’ll just swing right around this drive-thru and be done with it.
Sure you’ve got a hectic schedule (being a modern woman and all) and the temptation to munch a few greasy fries or onion rings while you run errands becomes harder to resist when you’re on the go. Before you waste your calories on that chocolate chip muffin (muffins for breakfast = muffin top on your wedding day!) you may want to keep a list on hand of 10 grab-and-go snacks that will help you meet your healthy lifestyle goals. These snacks are light, quick and easy to make find at the grocery store; no excuses ladies! All you need is the ability to open your fridge door!

- Toasted Almonds - Almonds = protein, fiber, healthy fat and a hot bride!
- Hummus and Veggies - Mmm-hmm hummus! Slice up a few sticks of celery, carrot sticks or any other crunchy veggie you love to dip with about 1Ž4 cup of hummus in a container that you can grab out of the fridge on your way out. Hummus and veggies make a delicious high fiber, high protein mini-meal.
- Frozen Grapes - Take a bunch of grapes and stick them in the freezer for an icy treat that comes in handy, especially in summer. Frozen grapes are a good pre-wedding snack food as well.
- Popcorn - Hold the extra salt and the butter please! Air-popped popcorn is a healthy alternative to movie popcorn that tends to be over salted and buttered to death. If you can’t kick the buttery habit, try lightly spraying popcorn with olive oil (the key word here is lightly). Olive oil is full of healthy fats like monounsaturated fatty acids.
- Plain Non-fat Greek Yogurt - It may sound a little boring and plain but add some blueberries or strawberries - and voilà - a tasty and dazzling snack high in fiber and a full dairy serving.
- Sugar-free gelatin - Try your favorite color gelatin alone or with cottage cheese and add a sprinkle of sliced almonds. If nothing else, it looks like something fun to eat!
- Salsa and Celery - Quick easy salsa recipe- 3/4 cup chopped red onion , 1/2 cup minced fresh cilantro , 1 diced fresh tomato, 1(10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with lime juice and cilantro, un-drained , 1 garlic clove. Place all ingredients in a blender and chop till smooth. Add the juice from 1/2 lime and you have tasty quick easy salsa to take around with you. See how quick that was?
- Low-fat Cheese Cubes and Apple Slices – This is the favorite snack of kindergarten kids everywhere, and the new favorite snack of brides on-the-go. Green apples have less sugar content those red apples, so keep that in mind when shopping for apples.
- Fruit Salad – Add bananas, apples, grapes, pineapple, strawberries and blueberries in a bowl chilled to perfection; we can taste it now! A little fruit salad can also spice (or sweeten up) that boring plain low fat Greek yogurt we talked about in number 5 (sorry Greek yogurt).
- Dark Chocolate - The coup de grâce of low fat snacks! Let’s be honest, we’re still women here. We’d be hard-pressed to go through out a week with no sweets of any kind. Dark Chocolate is a perfect after dinner snack, as dieticians have stated that ending a healthy meal with a healthy sweet, tricks your mind into being content and officially “ending” your meal. Dark Chocolate is rich in antioxidants, good for your heart, helps manage blood sugar and contains an array of minerals (you had us at hello, dark chocolate). A little sweet never hurt anyone and if a bit of dark chocolate is all there is that stands between you and a full bridal meltdown, take a bite of chocolate.
